The commercial training department provides knowledge-based
training and support to clients that use Metron
Aviation software products. Currently, the training
department offers introductory classes for new ESM
and POET clients, and advanced or refresher classes
for FSM clients that want additional training. To
date, Metron Aviation has trained over 48 users
from 11 different airlines both at Metron Aviation,
Inc. in Herndon Virginia and at various client locations.
Our clients have benefited from the small class
size and hands-on training, while Metron Aviation
has benefited from building a strong professional
reputation and increasing the client’s confidence
in using the products. The training department is
planning to expand the number and type of classes
it offers based on user feedback and evolving software
products and procedures. Future classes include
advanced training for POET, post analysis training
for FSM, and introductory training for Real-Time
FSA and various CDM tools.
Metron Aviation offers a state-of-the-art training
with instructors skilled in the TFM domain. The
classroom environment is interactive and students
benefit from the hands-on exercises, question and
answer period, and evaluation of instructor performance
and training material. To maintain the quality of
this environment, no more than 5 students are assigned
per instructor. The equipment used in the training
includes Samsung SyncMaster 711t LCD monitors (1280x1024);
three 3.2 GHz Xeon with 1 GB RAM and two 3.2 GHz
Pentium 4 with 2 GB RAM. Included in the cost of
training is a user manual and copy of all presentations.
Metron Aviation currently markets commercial training
classes through brochures, conferences, its company
web site, and referrals.

Metron Aviation offers a 1/2-day Intermediate FSM
course as well as a full-day Intermediate and Advanced
FSM Course. Both courses cover the capabilities
and benefits FSM offers to air traffic control personnel.
As part of the Free Flight Collaborative Decision
Making Program, FSM is the official FAA decision
support tool used to manage air traffic resources
through specific airspace constraints and/or the
airport. Our instructors will teach you how to use
FSM to monitor airspace/airport capacity and demand
and how FSM is used when an imbalance in resources
occurs. Use FSM analysis tools to predict or review
the impact of different airspace delay, ground delay
or ground stop scenarios on your airline and on
air traffic. The common situational awareness FSM
provides has already impacted air traffic and saved
millions of minutes in ground delay since 1998.
Come see why this tool is getting rave reviews from
the FAA and airlines alike!
This one-day course gives users an overview
of data and analysis functions available in POET.
Using POET's interactive tables, data miners, charts,
and maps, airline operations control personnel can
identify what works best in the course of day-to-day
operations. Analyze trends in your operation and
the National Airspace System (NAS) to maintain the
most efficient schedule even in the midst of adverse
conditions.
This 1/2-day or full-day
course reviews the functions and benefits of ESM,
a flight substitution module used in conjunction
with Flight Schedule Monitor that allows users to
strategically cancel and substitute flights. Which
are your most economically important flights? Which
flights absolutely must operate, despite adverse
conditions? How can you maximize the benefit you
gain from substituting flights? ESM uses optimization
to automatically assign flights to available slots
according to your flight priorities. ESM uses standard
simplified substitution protocols. Learn why ESM
is used by a majority of airlines with substitution
capabilities!
