The global traffic load is increasing
relentlessly and the stakeholders of the air transport
industry have to work together on shared and limited
resources. Airport congestion is a growing problem
and already a limiting factor at some airports.
Many of the international hubs and major airports
are operating at their maximum capacity for longer
and longer periods of the day, and some have already
reached their operating limits as proscribed by
physical as well as environmental limitations.

The CDM concept is
one of the key
drivers of Eurocontrol and
FAA strategies for the years to come and
has gained widespread currency in the civil aviation
community. It is implemented in the US predominantly
using Metron Aviation's tools and has already delivered
important benefits. NeoSys is the CDM booster and
leader in Europe; it was in charge of the feasibility
assessment and specifications of the Air CDM Demonstrator
for Eurocontrol. The use of Internet technology
provides a readily extensible scalable solution.
The sharing of both slow-changing and real-time
data on an Internet link ensures data integrity,
security, and consistency. Aiming at improving information
management and facilitating exchange by linking
the majority of airports and airline operation centers,
the Air CDM Demonstrator is the first European project
that embodies the concept since it explores the
feasibility of a running prototype.
In conjunction with Eurocontrol
and the FAA, airlines, academia, and private industry,
Metron Aviation believes in creating the technology
and processes that will ensure the modernization
of the Global Airspace System necessary to accommodate
the increasing demand. Our international comprehensive
consulting services include software development,
cost benefit analysis, analysis for distributed
and collaborative planning systems, airline operations,
ATC restrictions, and airport/surface movement optimization.
, the European version of FSM, is the first
product of this international effort.
