Metron Aviation Appoints Mark Andrews as Weather Principal Subject Matter Expert

Dulles, Virginia—February 2, 2011— Metron Aviation has announced the appointment of Mark Andrews as Weather Principal Subject Matter Expert. Mr. Andrews possesses over 32 years of experience in meteorological activities, including planning, budgeting and operational execution and improvement of U.S. aviation-related services.

Mr. Andrews joins Metron Aviation from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), where he was the Assistant Director, Department of Commerce, NextGen Joint Planning and Development Office.  In addition to numerous accomplishments, he facilitated the creation and continued evolution of all foundational weather documents related to the Next Generation Air Transportation System, including a weather concept of operations, integrated work plans and policy development.

During his tenure in the United States Air Force and NOAA, Mark has served in a variety of roles, including operational aviation weather forecasting, meteorological consulting for weather impacts to new aircraft and missile designs, conducting research into atmospheric effects on aircraft systems, policy and budgeting planning for new weather systems, strategic level concept of operations developer, as well as selection as a Commander of an operational Air Force weather squadron.
