Metron Harmony for Airlines

Strategic, tactical and pre-tactical operational planning

The Industry’s First Integrated ATFM, CDM and Surface Operations Management Solution for Airlines

Metron Harmony for Airlines is an Integrated Air Traffic Flow Management (I-ATFM) solution that improves the overall efficiency of airline operations and aids in tactical and pre-tactical decision making. The solution provides an integrated view of real-time and predictive air traffic conditions along with airport surface operations to dramatically improve on-time performance, reduce taxi delays and lower operating costs. Metron Harmony for Airlines is a web-based, decision support solution and surface situation display that delivers real-time reporting and analysis. Additionally, the airlines can view current and future airport surface conditions, manage the movement of aircraft on the airport surface and optimize the flow of traffic at the airport and throughout the entire network. Metron Harmony for Airlines also enhances ramp and ground operations by integrating real-time, national, regional and local traffic flow demand information with airline operational data to allow aircraft operator personnel to proactively plan before impending Irregular/Off-schedule Operations. The solution uses predictive traffic flow intelligence to recommend, evaluate and implement airline schedule adjustments that improve throughput, decreases surface gridlock and reduces taxi times.

Predictive Alerts for Harmonization

Visual alert capabilities in Metron Harmony for Airlines provide aircraft operators with advance awareness of potential delays, gate and lane conflicts, and flights

that have, or are predicted to have, a taxi time that exceeds configurable thresholds. The solution also provides workflow features that allow users to escalate potential issues to decision makers at all levels. Beyond its alerting and predicting of surface saturation capabilities, Metron Harmony for Airlines allows aircraft operators to actively manage surface gridlock and gate congestion. The surface saturation management capability assists the aircraft operators with developing and executing pre-tactical plans to maintain the number of flights at the airport within manageable bounds. The solution includes a flow rate manager that allows aircraft operators to implement an internal flow rate program, tailored to the anticipated surface constraint. Using these specified parameters, the system assigns recommended aircraft arrival and departure times to balance the distribution of flights on the surface and alleviate predicted congestion issues.

Optimization through Visibility

Departure management capabilities in Metron Harmony for provides visibility into the overall demand on operations using visual charts and graphs. Users can also create “what-if” scenarios for a specific flight to understand the impact of various departure times and departure fixes, optimize aircraft departure time estimates and reduce delays. Metron Harmony for Airlines interfaces with ANSP automation systems (e.g. Federal Aviation Administration’s Traffic Flow Management System for establishing control times to set the earliest expected time of each flight and establishing baseline departure schedules to help users make informed decisions.  Access to en route constraints on departures (e.g., departure fix separations) is included in the predictive capabilities and resulting Harmony for Airlines decision support.

Reporting and Analysis Capabilities

Metron Harmony for Airlines provides on-demand analysis and reporting capabilities to assess the performance of Air Traffic Control (ATC) and aircraft operators and to measure their effectiveness at managing operations, both real-time and post-event. The solution allows users to generate historical reports that highlight performance issues, pinpoint unnecessary delays, and identify implementation inefficiencies in order to continuously improve operations.  Users are provided access to operational data to generate their own reports through an advanced web-based report generation capability.
