Metron Aviation has capabilities to support policy-making in different environmental areas that impact aviation such as fuel use, greenhouse gases, air-quality emissions and noise. Highlights include:
• Analysis for the Energy Policy Act - Metron Aviation supported the FAA in the analysis of a government-mandated study related to the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005. This study addressed the emissions impacts of current and new operational initiatives and their effects in the terminal area.
• Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO) Environmental Constraints Analysis - Metron Aviation performs environmental evaluation of NextGen capabilities in the areas of noise, air quality and fuel efficiency and has developed techniques to express environmental goals and constraints using throughput metrics enabling environmental and operational evaluations to be directly compared.
• Environmental Scenario Screening - Metron Aviation is developing a suite of capabilities related to rapid exploration of the impacts of policy alternatives on environmental metrics in the areas of fuel, greenhouse gases, emissions and noise.
