Post Operations Evaluation Tool

Comprehensive analysis of NAS performance

Post Operations Evaluation Tool (POET) is an analysis system used by the FAA, aviation community and research organizations to analyze National Airspace System (NAS) performance. Developed for the FAA under Collaborative Decision Making (CDM), POET operational servers are currently installed at the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) with access to archived Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) data that is updated on an hourly basis. Metron Aviation maintains more than 4 years of archived POET data online used for historical and trend analysis.

The POET client tool uses a variety of performance metrics including departure, en route, arrival delays and filed versus actually flown flight tracks. POET also has a built-in collection of powerful data mining tools to assist the user in recognizing patterns and trends within the data. Some of the patterns currently recognized include circular airborne holding, arrival fix swaps and flown routes that differ significantly from the routes filed. Users can easily access, filter and visualize the flight information contained in the TFMS data archive, using a variety of interactive charts, tables and geographic displays.

POET data is updated on an hourly basis.
