Suite For Airlines Overview

Metron Aviation’s Suite for Airlines simplifies the complexity of air navigation service provider (ANSP) traffic flow management data by making the data user-friendly. Suite for Airlines is available to use with the following data sources:

  • U.S. Federal Aviation Administration System Wide Information Management (FAA SWIM) Data
  • Eurocontrol Network Manager data
  • Harmony ANSP data

This SaaS solution is delivered as a web application and provides a means to visualize demand, view controlled flights, apply airline business priorities by automating slot management, and provide account management to customize access to each component and saved setting. In addition, Metron Aviation’s Collaborative Decision Making Data Exchange (CDMDX) provides interface standards to make ANSP data available to other internal airline applications.

Situational Context

To participate in an ANSP’s Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) process, airlines need to be aware of the current operating environment. Knowledge of planned and active ATFM measures and the expected demand in an intuitive way, makes this process much easier.

The Situational Context capability of the Suite for Airlines enables an airline to:

  • Ingest and visualize ANSP traffic management data
  • Visualize expected demand at an airport or airspace up to 36 hours in the future
  • Visualize flights and associated flight data on a map display
  • Visualize the status and location of Air Traffic Flow Management measures
  • Draw an evaluation area on the map display to create a custom expected airspace demand view for flights through that airspace
  • View historical flight and schedule information

Integration of U.S. SWIM Data

Devoting resources to understand, process, and transmit FAA SWIM data to other applications requires airline assets that could be devoted to other efforts.

Slot Optimization

When a country’s air navigation service provider (ANSP) issues an ATFM measure (aka traffic management initiative), such as a Ground Delay Program (GDP), each airline receives slots according to their scheduled operations. To make optimal use of these slots, the Slot Optimization capability of the Suite for Airlines enables an airline to:

  • Display available slots and swap options
  • Send flight time updates
  • Send flight cancellations
  • Swap available slots
  • Model slot change impacts
  • Trade slots with other airlines through Slot Credit Substitution (SCS)/Inter-Operator Slot Exchange (ISE)

Slot Optimization provides these features for airport ATFM measures (GDPs) and airspace ATFM measures (Airspace Flow Programs [AFPs]).  In addition, Slot Optimization provides automated suggestions to reduce delay across a group of flights through features including:

  • Airline Compression – optimize the available open slots under the airline’s control
  • Cancel & Sub – cancel one flight and derive as much delay savings as possible from the available slot by shifting a set of other flights

Suite for Airlines capabilities are available to the United States, Europe and other international airlines.
